What does VisitU do with scanned driver licenses?
When a visitor’s driver’s license is scanned, only the barcode information (name, date of birth, and address) is securely read to verify identity and complete a quick safety check. No image or copy of the license is stored on the iPad itself.
The information is sent through an encrypted, secure connection to check against the national sex-offender registry. This happens in real time and is NOT shared with any outside party.
Only the basic visitor record (such as name, visit reason, and time) remains in the school’s visitor log for safety reporting. All data is protected by modern security standards, including SSL encryption, firewalls, and secure access controls.
SHS retains visitor logs until the end of the school year. These are then purged from our records.
