Apple Macbook Issue - Certain Keys Not Working
During walk-up visit to MB340 tech office, Student reported an issue where certain keys on her Macbook were not working. She advised that no liquid was spilled onto the laptop keyboard and this issue occurred before and the issue was a setting on the Macbook.
Verified issue that only certain keys are working upon inspection. No liquid spillage found. Checked general keyboard settings and no setting found to be causing issue.
Restarted computer and accessed Recovery mode. Able to type those letters while in the Terminal app. Restarted computer. Also, able to type in her password without issue as well. Therefore, typing issue is only occurring after login and within the OS.
Under the "If other keys don't work" section, completed this step
Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Accessibility in the sidebar, then click Pointer Control (you may need to scroll down). Make sure Mouse Keys is off.
Once turning off mouse keys, all of the keys on the keyboard started to work once again.
