Chromebook Developer Mode - Fix Various Issues
To enter Developer Mode on a Chromebook to fix various software issues, please complete following steps:
When to utilize this option: If and when Chromebooks the incorrect letters and characters when pressing the keys on Chromebook
Note: These steps will work with older HP Chromebooks
1) Press "Esc", "Refresh" and "Power" buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds. You should see a screen that says "Please insert a recovery USB Stick or SD card"
2) Press "Ctrl" and "D". You should see a screen that says "To turn OS Verification off, please ENTER" ---> Press Enter
3) On the next screen, you should see "OS verification is OFF" screen, press "space bar" and then "enter" to turn back on OS verification
4) When you turn on Chromebook OS verification, the settings become cleared.
5) After reboot, complete the initial Chromebook setup instructions. Verify if the issue is resolved on the Chromebook now.
Note: These Steps will work with Lenovo Chromebooks
1) Press "Esc", "Refresh" and "Power" buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds. You should see a screen that says "Please insert a recovery USB Stick or SD card"
2) On next screen, you should see a scree that says "Lets step you through the recovery process"
3) Scroll and select "Advanced Options"
4) Under "Advanced options", select "Enable Developer Mode"
5) Select "Confirm" on next screen. This will erase all data from the Chromebook. Essentially, this option is similar to a reimage of a PC/Macbook.
6) Select "Confirm" on the next screen where it says "Confirm return to secure mode". This will return device to original state.
7) After reboot, complete the initial Chromebook setup instructions. Verify if the issue is resolved on the Chromebook now.
